Malaysia 1st Nuclear Power Plant?

As per title above, Malaysia is planning to setup a nuclear power plant to increase energy production and to reduce the usage of coal. It is expected to be fully-operated on 2021. However, the site to build up the nuclear power plant is not confirmed yet. Speaking of location, Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, said that the nuclear power plant will be located in an area which has high power demand...... On the other hand, Selangor has rejected the construction of the nuclear power plant in the state. Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim believes that there are alternative ways that can be done…... [full story is available @ link #3 below]

As for me, I don’t know whether to support or to oppose the nuclear power plant in Malaysia. For a long term, it might be beneficial for Malaysia, but what will be the consequences? According to '60 minutes', nuclear power produces the cheapest electricity in Europe, mainly in France. Interesting huh?
