Pictures to Share: Double Rainbow

After waited for months and months, finally, I had the chance to capture the 'double rainbow', again. See the pictures below carefully.

Image 1: Double rainbow.
Image 2: Reflection on water.

My first time capturing 'double rainbow' was on March 2008. It's available in my old blog @ HERE. The second, third, forth...time capturing it was...... forgotten hehe.

Goodbye Pinky Fingernail

Each time I cut my fingernails, I will also only cut trim my right pinky fingernail, I insist to cut my right pinky fingernail. Before that, ladies and gentlemen, don't think too much on why did I kept my right pinky fingernail long. Let me call pinky fingernail as pinky-nail for short.

First of all, not to dig the "gold" in my nose and ears! 2nd, not trying to be cool. 3rd, not following the culture whereby Asian males keep pinky fingernail for wealth purpose. 4th, not to make girls jealous on my long fingernail(s) etc etc.

One simple reason, just to show that I'm free from the rule of maintaining short fingernails since kindergarten till high school! Anyway, I start keeping it since I graduated from high school, in the early year of 2008 till today. And of course within these 2 years, my pinky-nail got broken for more than 5 times. Each time it broken, I will still continue keeping it.

At last, today, I've made up my mind to cut my pinky-nail off. Reasons, I'm kinda lazy and tired to maintain my pinky-nail. Furthermore, I'm afraid to hurt my pinky-nail while holding my DSLR. DSLR won't feel the pain, but my pinky-nail can feel the pain though. So pinky-nail, bye for now, I soooo gonna miss you, very much!!!

Oh ya, almost forgotten, the longest record I kept was 4.2cm, including the nail in the tip. While the second longest was 4.1cm. hehe. 2 pictures below will remain as my memoir. Let's see when will I start keeping again. XD

Image 1: Under the sun.
Image 2: Final respect.

Waterspout near Miri beach on 26th April 2010

First of all, I wanna make it clear what has happened exactly yesterday. It was not a hurricane neither tornado, because it was not formed on the land. The answer is waterspout, many thought it was a tornado though. Do google or wikipedia it for more info.

Yesterday evening, many can see a waterspout formed by the beach in Miri. According to my cousin, who is working offshore in Miri, he told me before that it is very common to see waterspout from time to time. Hmm, maybe usually we couldn't see it from land? Here's a picture I obtained from http://miricommunity.net.

Image: Waterspout

Cool huh? How I wish I can see with my own naked eyes, thanks to my late evening class on every Monday.

Anyway, the picture I obtained is from http://miricommunity.net/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=28718 and 1 more similar post is available at http://miricommunity.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28717

McDonald's Doubles

Check this out! It's the McDonald's Doubles in Malaysia! Just look at the MEGA Mac, gosh, wonder how to squeeze it into my mouth...

Uh, each time I see this commercial advertisement, I will drool. Somehow, I'm gonna comment something about this. Not the price, not the taste, not the food, also, not the size. So what on Earth am I gonna comment about if it's nothing to do with food? It's about the commercial video. Wondering which video? Take your sweet time as I attached the video below.

video

How? Anything weird or so? Uh, straight to my point. Based on the video, at 00:29, why don't ask the girl to sit in the middle? Reason. To set a double date with those 2 men. XD

From my point of view, McDonald's Doubles don't really look special, I just wanna feel the thickness of those burgers, especially MEGA Mac. Anyway, I'm hope that I can try it when I get back to Kuala Lumpur on December (I hope it will last long). I'm not gonna try it in Miri, because the McD in Miri is franchised. No offense, not to say that I look down on them or so.

The Irresistible McDonald's Doubles, with double the taste you love.
Double the taste. Double the enjoyment.
I'm Lovin' Doubles.. I'm Lovin' It...

Do find out more @ http://www.facebook.com/My.McDonalds. I can't find any related topic about this in their MAIN website. Update faster please!

autoCAD Assignment has killed Me

**This post is somehow related with 1 of my old post, which is 'Orthographic that can kill me'.**

Finally, I'm done with...... Gosh, cracked my head for 36 hours specially for my autoCAD assignment, Engineering Graphic 232. As for now, I'm gasping for air!

I dare to admit that I'm noob in drawings, so what about autoCAD? Our tasks were simple, 4 objects in 3D and dimensions were given, what we need to do? Again, we were required to draw out the orthographic projections, sections and auxiliary views etc etc.

->Because of this assignment, I've to sacrifice my lovely weekend to date blog.
->Because of this assignment, I've to sleep at my friends' hostel in campus for 3 nights, so I don't have to go and come back everyday and can sleep later.
->Because of this assignment, I've to make a nest in the computer lab, as I lazy wanna find autoCAD 2010 for 64-bit for my lappy. All I got is for 32-bit.
->Because of this assignment, I've to sleep at 2am everyday.
->Because of this assignment, I've to bla blah blahhh...

Cut the crap. Generally, the given dimensions in the drawings were sucks! They were sooooo confusing, goddamnit. Oh, I forgot to mention, my drawing can be sucks, but at least I'm good with imagining. Here's 1 sample question and my output. =D

Figure 1: Given drawing.
Figure 2: My output.

I've no idea whether I did it correctly or not. Oh well, I don't really care about it already as the submission date is tomorrow, 27/4/2010, I've put too much effort on it until I wasted 1 day to study my Fluid Mechanics 230, last paper (mid-term) this Friday.

Uh, look at the first place, blame myself for not starting the assignment earlier. But, not I want though, too many mid-terms in between. Ah well, after the upcoming mid-term, there is still 1 more assignment to submit on next Monday, Engineering Mathematics 233! Then, I can "rest in peace" for few days till the time I need to work on my upcoming...... 2 individual reports! fark~ I need an easier life!

Opps, I've forgotten that, I GOT 1 MORE ASSIGNMENT FOR THIS Engineering Graphics 232, that will be the final assignment which carries the heaviest mark!!!!! When can i see the questions?! 1 thing good about this unit, it has no final exam, LOL!

Curtin FC: 3 on 3 Street Challenge

Uh, I'm running out of air, so I'll let the image below do the talking.

Basically, I don't know which team has won, as I was only at there roughly 30 minutes. Reason? Too hot and got assignment to rush. Anyhow, do check it out --> http://curtinfc.blogspot.com <-- for the results etc. Anyway, here are 3 pictures I would like to share with everyone. Nothing special though, just wanna show... erm...... venue? the setup? hehe

Image 1: The medals.
Image2: The location.
Image 3: Kick!

Yes, basketball court was the venue and they used tables as the "boundary layer". Don't look down on the tables, the tables not only to bounce the ball, the tables can cut your fingers as well. Someone got a deep cut while the match was carried on, and of course I will not take those pictures, I ain't that bad. =P

Hubble Celebrates 20 Years of Astonishing Discoveries

Once again, while I was surfing around, I spotted a new logo of Google, just for a special day. If you missed it, don't worry, I got a copy for you, here you go.

What was it all about? As per title, Hubble Celebrates 20 Years of Astonishing Discoveries!
Space shuttle Discovery roared into orbit April 24, 1990, with a most precious cargo, NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. In the two decades since, teams of astronauts working from other shuttles repaired the orbiting eye on the universe and extended its abilities far beyond what was thought possible for longer than many thought realistic.
Full story is available @ HERE (NASA), do drop by ya. Anyway, look at the image below.

Looks like hand drawing wasn't it? I'm wondering why mojority of the pictures captured at the outer space/universe will looks like hand drawing. Because of light? Lens? Aperture? Anyone mind to explain to me why? However, I love it very much, it's an art though! Uh, how I wish I can capture such image.

40th Anniversary of Earth Day (2010)

Before you proceed, I hope you can drop by @ http://earthday.net/earthday2010.

Gosh, 40 years, yet, our mother Earth is getting sicker day by day. Don't we homo sapiens bother about our mother Earth?! Don't we homo sapiens realise what on Earth happened recently?! Open your eyes for the sake of our 1 and only mother Earth!!! *Sigh*

Anyway, something has caught my eyes while I was browing around yesterday, check the image below. Nothing special, just proving that Google is showing its support for Earth Day.

Pictures to Share: Sunset @ Curtin Sarawak

These 2 weeks, I'll be busy with my shitty mid-terms and assignments, they are just killing me. Somehow, I still will spend my time on capturing sunset! Here are 3 pictures I would like to share. 1st pic taken on April 21st, 2010 and the remaining 2 taken on April 22nd, 2010. All were taken in my campus, because I overnight in my friends' hostel apartment, hehe.

Image 1: Trees as my subject, taken on 21st April 2010.
Image 2: Managed to snap the sun before it went down, taken on 22nd April 2010.
Image 3: Sun gone, rays come, taken on 22nd April 2010.

Sorry for not showing the details of the pictures, I'm just too exhausted. Ahhhh, I still got 1 autoCAD assignment to go, 1 mid-term for Fluid Mechanics 230 and 1 more Engineering Mathematics 233 assignment to complete. Gosh, although 3 mid-terms gone, but yet, so many things to catchup.

My 1st Panning Shots

On 18th of April 2010, Sunday, Curtin Basketball Club has organised a '3 on 3 Basketball Tournament'. In my mind, I did not plan to participate the tournament, since I stopped basketball for quite a long time, however, my intention was to gain experience in capturing panning pictures!

Wondering what's panning in photography? Read HERE. Gosh, now I understand how difficult it is to capture panning pictures. I always wanted to try on panning shots and finally, I had the chance to capture, for the first time. I spammed 188 pictures, and guess how many pictures were acceptable, just scroll down and see the almost-successful-perfect panning pictures.

Image 1: Basketball.

Image 2: Basketball.

Image 3: The MVP.

Uh, I think I need lotsa practice for panning shots. I wanna try panning on cars someday, F1 perhaps. hehe. The bigger the subjects, the easier to capture, I guess. Panning on basketball is not easy though, because of circular motion!

Anyway, the champion of this tournament was the team that always win for past N years, regardless 5on5 or 3on3. Image 3 shows 1 of the key players!

Blooming Flowers in Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak (2010)

Wooow, after been here in Miri for 2 years and 2 months, for the second time, I managed to see the same scene as 'Blooming Flowers in Miri (2010)', but this time, it was in my own campus, Curtin University of Technology. Counted second time in Miri, but first time in my campus, hehe.

Yet, again, same questions in my head, are there 4 seasons in Sarawak? Or 2 seasons perhaps? Spring and Autumn? Hmm, tropical rain forest perhaps? But, these were the first time, based on my experience after staying in Miri for 2 years and 2 months.

Ah well, here are 5 pictures I would like to share.

Image 1: Rows of flowers.
Image 2: Rows of flowers.
Image 3: White flowers.
Image 4: I love this the most, yet, it was out-of-focus.
Image 5: White flowers.

I might be a barbarian for not seeing such scenes before. Yet, I wanna share it with everyone. I feel the scenes are somehow unique and we can hardly see flowers on trees in rows and rows, in Malaysia perhaps? Anyhow, in my opinion, the scenes in my campus were way nicer than the 1 I saw by the road side, 'Blooming Flowers in Miri (2010)'.

Anymore, more pictures are available at here.

Internet Speed Test in Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak (April 2010)

Basically, I'm in the computer lab right now, Curtin University Sarawak Campus. Yes, just look at the posting time, 1:30am. Wondering what the hell am I doing at here at this time? Nothing much, just gonna overnight in my friends' hostel, the campus lakeside apartment, to do some physical exercise revisions for our mid-term test on upcoming Monday, Strength of Materials. Now, I'm in the computer lab just to do some daily online activities, at the mean time, we are doing a little touch up for our autoCAD assignment, Engineering Graphics.

Usually, I will complain as much as I could, due to the lagginess of the internet in the campus, ragardless in the computer lab or in the apartment. However, since it is pass midnight right now, where there are around 5 people the in the computer lab, I've noticed the internet speed is superb, in Malaysia only lah of course. So here goes the internet speed test via speedtest.net.
Fast?! Jeez, kinda lame and what a shame. As you can see the images above, I ran 2 speed tests based on 2 different servers, which were Seri Kembangan and Singapore. Both of them were showing different results. Oh well, nothing special about the results, but, I only hope that I can subscribe the new UniFi, by TM, with such speed.
Malaysia boleh...?

Picture to Share: Sunset at Curtin Lake

Today's sunset at Curtin lake was kinda disappointing, for me. Just a normal and common sunset. Anyhow, I still would like to share a picture with everyone, here goes nothing.

Image: Sunset.
Exposure: 1/10s
Aperture: f/8
Focal Length: 18mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off
Still, the best sunset at Curtin I've captured so far was...HERE.. Yet, it was ruined by dusts. Notice the black spots? See it at a larger view.

Picture to Share: A Cloud's Paw

Yesterday's sunset was nothing special, yet, I get something else.

Image: Paw.
Exposure: 1/50s
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 85mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off
Can you spot a cloud formation of paw? I hope you do. If you can't, click on the image for a larger view, then, save it and see it in a smaller scale, zoom out. As for today, the weather was bad, too cloudy, so there was no sunset. Let's hope there will be something special for me tomorrow!

5 lives, saved by me!

Last night, while I was busy typing, I sniff and sniffed, is that the smell of gas? And so, my 'little angel' persuaded me to go and check the kitchen. Yes, one of the stoves was not off! Immediately, without second thought, I switched the kitchen chimney on, turned the knob on stove off and opened the door widely. By the way, don't ask me why I did not open the windows. Reason, the windows are sliding windows, I afraid the windows will ignite, spark?

Come to think of it, I saw my uncle, who was drunk, went to kitchen to have supper. Yes, I heard that he turned the gas on, to heat the foods up, it was around 10:20pm. After supper, he went to bed. The moment I sniffed gas, it was already around 11:30pm.

Later, I told my cousin that the gas was not off. At that moment, he was relaxing and watching TV. He answered: "no wonder I smelled something." Well, I don’t blame him for not checking the kitchen, in fact, I thanked him for not smoking in the house! Or else...

This morning, I told my aunt about this incident, she told me the same thing. She smelled something, but, she could not wake herself up, yet, she was suffocating. Gosh.

5 lives, who are my uncle, my aunt, my cousin, my cousin’s son and I, were saved by me. I blame nobody, yet I'm glad that I'm still surviving.

2 weeks, gone?

Oh gosh, I'm repeating this over and over again. TIME DO REALLY FLIES! My 2 weeks of break have just gone, flew like a dust, carried by a wind?

Let me think, what did I bili bala bili bala for the past 2 weeks... Eat, sleep, chat, camwhore photoshooting, Defense of the Ancient and...... Facebook, LowYat.net, KopitiamMalaysia.net, Twitter, Blogger, Google, Yahoo, maybank2u.com.my, Life is easy like Ezy, last but not least INNIT! Enjoyed the moments though.

Let me think, what did I revised for the past 2 weeks... Fluid Mechanics 230, Engineering Graphics 232, Engineering Mathematics 233, Machine Dynamics 231 & Strength of Materials 232 Nill?! OMG! I'm soooooo gonna suffer 8 weeks of lectures and tutorials starting from April 12th. Ok, someone kill me please.

Yet, another New Skin for my Blog

I'm sick with my old layout, which was 'Theater Room'. Reason? My ads will eventually overlap with my menu bar. Jeez. Without further crapping from me, so, here you go, I present you a simple, plain and white layout. Credits to my buddy, Google, that I've found this new layout.

Basically, I've changed my blog's layout for 4 times, since January 16, 2010. I changed the layouts just for my satisfactions. I hope this layout will give me no headache from now onwards. I also hope that I can remain this layout till the end of......

This layout is simply the most complicated layout that I've ever faced, so far. I edited like 30% of the HTML codes for this layout, gosh, it's cracking my head. Anyway, do let me know if you found out any bugs. Thanks.

Picture to Share: Sunset

My daily routine, capturing sunset when there's no rain or any disturbance. So here's one, captured on April 9th, 2010.

Image: Sunset

Aperture: f/8
Focal Length: 18mm
ISO Speed: 200

Sin Wan Delight Rojak & Cold Drinks Centre, Miri, Sarawak

New to Miri? Hot? Cold? Thirsty? Hungry? Got nowhere else to go?

Well, if you have met all of the criterias above, here's a "hideout" where you should never ever miss when you're in Miri! It's the well-known 'Sin Wan Delight Rojak & Cold Drinks Centre'.

It's famous for its cold/icy drinks such as Kacang Cendol, Kacang Jagung, Kacang Agar-agar and many more. Not only that, the rojak in 'Sin Wan' is simply the best in Miri, such as Sotong Kangkung, Kuih Udang/Keladi and many more! Yes, the best!

Image 1: An example of the cold/icy drinks, kacang jagung.
Image 2: Rojak kuih, mixed everything.
Image 3: Sotong kangkung.
Image 4: The shop.
Image 5: The name and some menu.

For the cold/icy drinks, you can either ask for milk or santan. To be frank, the cold/icy drinks are more or less the same with other local shops. But, the masterpiece, is the rojak! You can try every corner in Miri for Sotong Kangkung and Rojak Kuih, and I dare to bet, you'll come back to 'Sin Wan'! Especially my favourite, its' rojak kuih!!! I'm willing to skip my meal for the rojak kuih! Reason? The sauce!

Anyhow, in terms of price, it's a little bit pricey compared to other local shops, but not much. Still, it's worth to pay extra for yummy foods! For now, the price for cold/icy drinks are RM2.30 per bowl (I remember it was RM2 per bowl last year). As for the rojak, the price is up to you, starting from RM4 until err, you decide (they cut down the quantity compared to last year).

Know where it is located? Google out 'Taman Bintang Jaya' and you'll know where! Hints, located right behind a Petronas nearby Bintang Plaza!

Blooming Flowers in Miri (2010)

Since past few days, last 2 weeks perhaps, I've noticed there were flowers blooming everywhere along the road in Miri, especially trees! Plants are very common, but not the trees! Each time the flowers caught my attention, I will drive as slow as I could, just to enjoy the feeling of driving in a country side, peace and harmony? hehe

I was wondering, are there Spring and Autumn in Miri, Sarawak? Or maybe because of tropical rain forest in Borneo? Ah, guess I've forgotten my knowledge about geography, including the simple one. Just look at the pictures below.

Image 1: I've no idea the name for this flower.
Image 2: It looks like cherry blossom at my 1st glance.

After staying in Miri for more than 2 years, this was the first time I've seen such scene. However, this is the most that I can get. Guess I've wasted the opportunity to capture more flowers, most of the flowers were withered (refer to Image 1). I should have forced myself to capture those flowers earlier, darn! Oh, I forget to mention, those flowers along the road side were colourful though! Mainly were white, pink and purple!

Am I silly enough to stop by the road side just to capture flowers? Or am I a barbarian? XD

Anyway, 8 more pictures are available at HERE.

That's it, I had enough with Celcom Broadband!

I've been subscribing Celcom Berukband Broadband for days, for weeks, for months, for years since *let me dig out my receipt* April 2008. Gosh, will be using it for 2 years at the end of this month.

Ah well, ever wonder why I'd chosen Celcom over Maxis and Streamyx?
  • First, because I'm not a permanent resident in Miri, I only come here to study, so why do I need a DSL connection? Thus, Streamyx was out from the list. Furthermore, I'm using Streamyx in KL, why should I subscribe, 1 more?
  • Second, in between Celcom and Maxis, Celcom has a wider coverage in Miri and larger bandwidth, 5Gb instead of 3Gb from Maxis (that time but not for now).
  • Third, don't ask me why not DiGi or P1 Wimax or uMobile, because I'm in Miri! That's why!
To tell everyone the truth, I've been complaining the usages of Celcom in Miri since the 1st day I've started to use. I can type out 10 pages of A4 sheets about the bad experiences I faced. Uh, cut the crap for now and I'll straight to my point for today. Just look at the attached image below.

Image: Noob Celcom!

This issue happened in a sudden, if you couldn't see it, just click on the image for a larger view. Saw? Noticed anything? It's so lame that it stated 'No Network', but yet, I'm still surfing? Well, that's not the thing, last 2 days, I've no idea why my connection will get disconnected continuously for more than 20 times within 1 hour, frustrated, argh.

That's it, I had enough with Celcom Berukband Broadband! I'm paying RM98 per month for nothing! I've spent RM98 x 12 months = RM2352 + modem RM250-RM300 (forgotten). Damn, I'm soooo gonna switch to Maxis Broadband, soon, perhaps, since they have promotion right now. Well, we'll see.

To be continued.........maybe

Playing with White Balance

Capturing sunset is one of my daily routines, no doubt about it. Yesterday's sunset was awesome awful, and today, I was too late. However, to satisfy my itchy hands, I've spammed few pictures by altering the 'white balance', but only 3 selected pictures will be posted here. To get to know more regarding White Balance, do check it out at HERE.

Image 1: Fluorescent
Exposure: 1/6s
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 105mm
ISO Speed: 500
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off

Image 2: Sun
Exposure: 1/6s
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 105mm
ISO Speed: 500
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off

Image 3: Auto white balance
Exposure: 1/4s
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 105mm
ISO Speed: 500
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off

Obviously, from the pictures above, you can see the colour differences of the sky. That's the power of White Balance. Image 1 was taken with Fluorescent mode, Image 2 was taken with Sunrise/Sunset mode while Image 3 was Auto. Wonderful heh?

Well, can you tell me which is the right 1? hehe

1st Time Cutting a Pineapple, with such Size!

Shame of myself, this is my 1st time cutting a pineapple in my entire life. It's also my 1st time to see such a huge pineapple, Sarawak pineapple to be exact. Well, according to my aunt, she said there are bigger Sarawak pineapples than the 1 I cut, OMG, guess I'm a barbarian? What a shame, again.

Anyway, I've uploaded some pictures of it, just scroll down accordingly, those were the processes I cut the pineapple for our spaghetti. Ohya, like I said, it's my 1st time, so please don't criticize my skills. XD

Image 1: Just look at it.
Image 2: It started to bleed.
Image 3: It's bleeding!
Image 4: Done, half for us, our spaghetti, half for neighbour.
Image 5: What a mess.

Alright, I'm done with everything, time to eat~
