Shrimp, Shrimp and Shrimps

Guess what, the shrimps season is back! Shrimps can be found all over in Miri, especially by the beach, on the way to Kuala Baram! We call it shrimps, in bahasa we call it ‘udang geragau’ while the local here in Miri they call it ‘bubuk’. Uh, I’m so surprised that everyone is selling, around RM5 to RM7 per kilo. Most surprisingly, many people will buy it for at least 10kg, I even heard 1 customer next to me is buying 50kg, omg. The reason they buy 10kg and above is to do shrimp paste a.k.a ‘belacan’, then, they will sell it about RM28 per kilo. Just look the pictures below.

Image 1: Collecting the shrimps from the boat.
Image 2: Collected shrimps, out to hunt for more shrimps.
Image 3: Some people did not use boat, they walked instead.
Image 4: The equipments, boat with net.Image 5: Shrimps!

Haha, my aunt bought the shrimps for only 1kg, haha, just for doing ‘cekodok geragau’. Google it to find out more about ‘cekodok geragau’. Lovely, fresh from the sea. Uh, now I smell 'belacan' everywhere.

Lesson for Not Checking

As today, the day for me to return to Miri, as my semester gonna begin next week. Me and a new friend, namely Goh Wen Hon, have booked the same flight to fly together to Miri, at the mean time, I’m guiding him to Curtin, as he’s a new Curtin student. So, Goh, welcome to Curtin!!!

Basically, our flight, MH 2564, departed from Kuala Lumpur at 10:07am and arrived in…… Kuching at 11:48am. Kuching!!!!!! In KLIA, I felt weird, why does the flight to Kuching was the same gate as the flight to Miri, Gate A 08. When we check-in, I asked one of the air-stewardess, apparently, MH 2564 was a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Miri but will transit in Kuching. OMG, damn it, it was my fault for not checking the arrival time while booking the air ticket. From Kuala Lumpur to Miri, the estimated time was about 2 hours, however, without noticing, the arrival time in my e-ticket stated 1:35pm, instead of reaching to Miri at noon! Jeez. Sorry Goh, for letting you fly the wrong flight with me, haha. In the end, we departed from Kuching at 12:57pm and reached Miri at 2pm, delayed due to some technical issues.

However, it shall be a good experience for us. By looking down through the windscreen of the plane, the view from Kuching to Miri was awesome! The pictures I’ve taken were full with noises, sorry!

Image 1: Look at the colour tone.
Image 2: Sheeps on the field?

Uh, I just love the view. See yourself to believe.

Say No Goodbye

This Wednesday (24/2/10) at 10:05am, I'm departing to Miri, Sarawak as my 2nd year 1st semester degree gonna start on next Monday. Oh gosh, been around Peninsular Malaysia since November 24, and I feel nothing much happened, time do really flies and you knew it.

Anyway, don't wish me goodbye yet, because, I'm sure that I'll be back, haha! Uh Curtin-ians, let's starting squeezing our asses, again. And again, please no farewell for me, no byebye, no goodbye, it shall be the saddest word for me. I would like to share an amazing song by Celine Dion, with the title of Goodbye's (The Saddest Word).

Well, this song simply suits for all mothers during Mother's Day, the chorus is my main point, as stated below.

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye.

So, once again, please don't say goodbye. We shall meet again, soon, but where? Of course I will try to update my blog frequently, with worth sharing photos! Guess I'm gonna suffer till December for not playing with my dad's Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7 and my friends' DSLRs, so N82, please work hard!

Sentul Park, Kuala Lumpur

A friend of mine whom I never met after our SPM, Wong Siew Lee, has invited me and some other friends (Alvin Chiew, Woan Shiang and Wong Wan Kah) for an outing to Sentul Park aka Koi Centre, Kuala Lumpur, as well as to treat us 'dim sum' for breakfast. Siew Lee, long time no see and I can't even recognise you, because of your hair, LOL! Well, after everyone has gathered around 11am, we then proceeded to Jalan Ipoh to have our breakfast and we chit-chatted all the way until...

At 1pm, we finally finished our breakfast and headed to Sentul Park. 3 hours for a meal, that's fun! Anyhow, Sentul Park is a great place for photo shooting as well. You may even buy quality Koi at there. Straight to my point, here are some pictures I wanna share with everyone.

Image 1: Sentul Park, Koi Centre.
Image 2: Japanese house.
Image 3: Bamboos at the entrance.

The entire album is available @ HERE, my facebook. Not many pictures were taken because I did not charge my phone. Anyway, a million thanks to Siew Lee for treating us such a lovely meal!

Coconut Shake in Klebang, Malacca

Have you ever heard of the Klebang Coconut Shake in Malacca? If no, you should give it a try, with no regrets, especially Malaccans! Do you know what makes this coconut shake so special? Because, they blend the coconut with WALL’s vanilla ice-cream to produce the coconut shake. It only costs RM1.80 per cup! So, what are you waiting for? Just give it a damn try at Klebang, by the road side, near to the Caltex patrol station.

Image 1: Klebang Coconut Shake, saw the Caltex behind?
Image 2: The stalls, by the road side.

Try or regret!

Gunung Ledang Waterfall, Johor (16 February 2010)

On the February 15 2010, my uncle just simply asked me whether wanna go to Gunung Ledang waterfall for fun, then I just simply accepted his offer. So, he and his family in 1 car, my mum and I in 1 car (I’m the driver, of course) while the rest of my family members went out for shopping instead. So, we departed from Malacca by 7:40am and the journey merely needs 1 hour to reach there. To get there was easy, from Malacca, we used the old road, since I requested it (I want more driving experiences), we followed the road to Jasin and all the way to Tangkak. Once reached a small town in Tangkak, just simply follow the sign to Gunung Ledang Resort, I bet you’ll reach there in no time.

Wow, I never expected that we have to pay the entrance fees. This is how they charge, RM2 per vehicle and RM1 for each adult while RM0.50 for each child. Then, you will be allowed to enter the parking zone. Since this is my 1st time, thus, I walked as fast as I could to reach to the peak of the waterfall. Anyway, all of my family members set a place in the middle part of the waterfall, before reaching the peak. At the mean time, I continued my “journey” to the peak for some photo shooting. Well, here are some pictures I would like to share.

Image 1: Water.
Image 2: Part of the waterfall.
Image 3: Highest part of the waterfall.
Image 4: The danger zone.

As the sun gets higher, the more people set their foot in the water. Vehicles were everywhere to look for parking. So, we head back to Malacca at 1pm.

The entire album is available @ HERE, in my facebook.

CNY countdown @ Jonker Walk, Malacca (13 February 2010)

Most of the time, I will ask few of my family members to go to Jonker Walk for CNY countdown, especially my aunt and cousins. Not only for CNY countdown of course, to view the CNY decorations as well. Hmm, I guess nothing much that I can type about it, everything went well with no rain! And, I’m here just to share some worth sharing pictures.

Ohya, I’ve met the chief minister of Malacca, Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam and the state governor of Malacca, Tun Datuk Seri Utama Mohd Khalil Yaakob, personally face to face! Nonetheless, I also gained the opportunity to shake hand with Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, haha!

Just another Good Experience of Driving

Chinese New Year falls on the same day as Valentine’s Day for year 2010, which is on Sunday. So, my family and I planned to go back to Malacca on Friday. Our journey began at 5:45pm local time and we arrived nearly 9pm with 2 cars, usually it will only take 2 hours to reach, but not this time. Thanks to the congested road from Bandar Bukit Mahkota all the way until Seremban!

However, I’ve finally experienced to drive a manual car for more than 3 hours, since I get my license on June 2007. The longest record that I drove was only 2 and the half hour, with an auto car. Uh la la, I’ve broke my own personal record, in terms of time, not distant.

Unlikely, I saw a live minor accident occurred right behind me while I was keeping on the middle lane as the middle lane moved the most. I saw a motorist felt out from his bike and he rolled on the highway while his bike slides on the highway, I saw it via my mirror. Oh gosh, luckily the traffic was slow moving, the car behind me stopped immediately and I left the scene as the traffic went smoother. Based on my observation, I saw 2 motors from 2 different directions entered to the middle lane, I think they wanted to go to the opposite lane, 1 from left to right while the other from right to left. So I guess 1 of the motorist collided on the other motorist and he lost control. I hope he’s fine!

The moment I reached my aunt’s house at Taman Bukit Cheng, then only I realised that I left out 3 of my new shirts for CNY, 1 of the shirt was for the first day, orange theme! Luckily I got another 4 new clothes as backup, but no orange. Actually, it was my mistake, those 3 clothes which I left out was because I planned to hang them inside the car instead of folding them and squeeze into the luggage. Thus, while rushing arranging stuffs into the cars, I’ve totally forgotten about my shirts! I hang them on my room door! Jeez, such misfortune. Guess I will shop around the new mega mall, AEON Bandaraya Melaka Shopping Centre, tomorrow, just simply look for a cheap orange shirt to match this year CNY theme, orange, signify tiger. Alright, I think that’s all for now, stay tuned for more updates…

1 Night @ Genting Highlands

Before you start reading this post, I'll advise you to take a deep deep deep very deep extremely super duper deep breathe, or else you'll regret. Don't ask why, just do it. Okay, here we go. Nicholas Gow got a voucher from his aunt to overnight in First World Hotel for a night for FREE, however, his family members don't feel like going, thus, Nicholas Gow, Alvin Chiew and I planned not to waste the voucher, and hence, we planned to use the opportunity to enjoy ourselves while I'm still around in Kuala Lumpur.

So we decided to overnight on the 10th of February as the earlier dates were fully booked! Guess what, naughty Alvin has no choice but to skip his class on Wednesday, just for this trip! And jeez, this Alvin, got the same voucher to overnight in First World Hotel for FREE but he told us at the very last minute, 4 pieces of the same vouchers some more! Boys and girls, for your info if you didn't realise, 1 voucher is valid for 1 night, imagine 4 vouchers, 4 nights!!! Argh Alvin! Anyway, 1 free night is better than nothing, right?

Ohya, Genting Highlands, located in between Pahang and Selangor, is actually just right behind my house, to get there by driving (I always wanted to, since I got my driving license), it only takes about 40 minutes to reach to the peak. As our parents disagree us to get there by car, so we planned to get there by public transports. We took a bus from Terminal Putra to Genting half peak, and we transited to Genting Skyway to get to the top peak within 11 minutes. Anyhow, there's an advantage for us by taking the bus & Skyways, we at least experienced the public transports to Genting Highlands, especially the Skyways, instead of always following our parents to Genting with cars!

Ok, stop! Relax yourself and continue reading once you're done.

So, what you gonna read about is our tight schedule for 1st day, as below.

###Day 1###
0725 - Reached Terminal Putra, Gombak.
0755 - Bus to Genting arrived and so we get in.
0803 - Journey to Genting Highlands began.
0839 - Reached half peak & rushed to the Genting Skyway immediately.
0905 - Reached Genting Highlands.
0925 - Check-in First World Hotel.
0935 - Entered our room, Level 25 Room 820 (Non-smoking zone).
1000 - Leaved room to find out the Theme parks.
1055 - Bought tickets for All Parks (Indoor & Outdoor Theme Parks).
1100 - Our craziness began all the way until......
1430 - Had our lunch @ Hou Mei & continue our craziness until......
2000 - Had our dinner @ Flavours & continue our craziness until......
2355 - Dizzy + pain + exhausted + high = the end of our craziness.
0000 - Walked around to get some fresh cold air.

Basically, we rode most of the ride for both Indoor and Outdoor Theme Parks, except those kiddies rides. Here's the list of the rides that we rode with our ride counts.

Outdoor Theme Park:
(a) Flying Coaster: 1 round for Alvin & I which Nicholas surrendered.
(b) Tea Cup: 1 crazy round for all 3 of us.
(c) Sungai Rejang Flume Ride: 1 soak round for all 3 of us.
(d) Rolling Thunder Mine Train: 2 rounds for Nicholas but 3 rounds for Alvin & I.
(e) Pirate Ship: 1 stress ride for all 3 of us.
(f) Spinner: 2 dizzy rides for all 3 of us.
(g) Grand Prix Fun Kart: 1 fun round for all 3 of us.
(h) Flying Dragon: 1 slow ride for all 3 of us.
(i) Antique Car: 1 slow and steady round for all 3 of us.
(j) Space Shot: 2 craziest outdoor ride for all 3 of us!!!

Indoor Theme Park:
(a) Rio Float: 1 rest ride for all 3 of us.
(b) Euro Express: lost count, but at least 7 fun rides for all 3 of us.
(c) Adult Bumper Cars: 21 times of the craziest indoor rides!!!

Sooooo unfortunate, 2 of the outdoor coaster rides were closed for maintenance, which were the 'Cyclone' and the 'Corkscrew'. Argh, we missed 'Corkscrew', which is the only double loop roller coaster in Malaysia!!! And again, sooooo unfortunate, I'm so gonna curse the person in charge of the 'Bumper Boat'. Why? Because he disallowed me to ride it. Why? Because the weight limit for the ride is 75kg. Guess my weight...... 75kg sharp! But why can't I ride it?! Jeez, screw that fake weight scale, I never reached my weight up to 75kg before, my highest record was only 74kg, last week was 73kg, duh! YISH!!! Darn it!!!

But still, we had a lot of fun for the 1st day, we started playing since 11am all the way until 11:55pm! That was nearly 13 hours including some breaks! The reason we played on the 1st day was simple, the Outdoor Theme Park will be closed at 7pm on normal days while 8pm on peak days, while the Indoor Theme Park will be closed on 12am for normal days while 1am for peak days. Thus, we purchased the All Park tickets for the 1st day instead of 2nd day. Uh, we were just crazy enough to ride the 'Adult Bumper Cars' for 21 times, until it closed at 11:55pm!

Ok, what you've read from the above was just only the 1st day, below was our 2nd day, continuing from the 1st day of course.

###Day 2###
0105 - Back to our room & taken our shower + some supper.
0255 - Played UNO for fun (Nicholas won 1 match, Alvin won 2 matches & I won 3 matches)!
0315 - Went to bed and slept, extremely exhausted!
0900 - 1 by 1 woke up to get ready to check-out.
1130 - Leaved our room & check-out.
1135 - Explore around Genting and spam some pictures.
1430 - Had our lunch @ Marry Brown & continue spamming pictures.
1745 - Started to queue to ride Awana Skyway (Genting Skyway had some technical errors).
1900 - Reached bus waiting point @ Genting Skyway.
1910 - Bus to Terminal Putra had reached & we entered immediately.
1915 - Started to leave Genting.
1950 - Reached Terminal Putra & waited for Nicholas' dad.
2000 - Reached home!

Luckily we were smart enough to enjoy the rides on the 1st day, the Genting Skyway was closed down due to some technical errors. Passengers who bought the tickets for Genting Skyway were asked to ride the Awana Skyway, with no extra surcharge nor claim. Wow, it was a long long queue. You guys got to know the differences between Genting and Awana Skyways, 2 of them are totally different cable cars. To find out more about the theme parks and others, kindly visit Genting's main webpage @ http://www.rwgenting.com.

Anyway, here's a picture I would like to share, which I think it's worth sharing compared to the other pictures, click HERE to view the full album in facebook.

New Skin for My Blog

Since the moment this blog was created, the template I've used was 'Daya Earth', for 3 weeks. The reason I used 'Daya Earth' because it's plain and simple. Also, I prefer to use 3 columns template. However, the longer I see this template, the duller it gets.

In the end, I've made up my mind to get a new template. Here it is, the 'Theater Room' template. Gosh, my itchy hands disallowed me to sleep early. Although the template code was provided, still, I've to suffer few hours in editing the HTML codes, just to satisfy my needs. Uh, the moment I editing the HTML codes and the gadgets, I was panic like hell, it doesn't went smoothly. Oh well, tada, I think it's done. Guess what time I went to bed? 4:47am, jeez. Luckily my class begin on 1st March, LOL!

In between 'Daya Earth' template and 'Theater Room' template, I've tried on 'blueglide' template for few minutes. My whole blog became a mess like a scrap paper and I got no choice but to get another new template. Now, I'm partially satisfied with the new template, not 100% satisfied. Know why? Because, the images and background of this template (same goes to 'Daya Earth') were uploaded to Photobucket. My University, Curtin, has blocked this web, just to prevent students to use up the bandwidth. Damn, I wonder how retard my blog would look like without those images and background. Ohya, do drop by a comment if you found out any bugs, thanks.

Facebook | New Layout (February 2010)

There will be a major update on facebook's new layout from February 2010 onwards. Many users will slowly experience the new layout and I'm of the early "victim". Read the following changes, I've copied partially of it.

What's changed?
The goal for these changes is to make it as easy as possible for you to find what you’re looking for, whether it’s your notifications, friend requests, personal messages, or applications.

Top navigation: We've simplified the top navigation menu by removing redundancies and centralizing all notifications in the top left hand corner. For example, instead of having separate settings and logout links, we’ve moved them under a new Account menu.

Left-hand navigation: Applications were moved from the bottom toolbar to the left hand side menu of the home page to consolidate and simplify navigation on the site and make applications more accessible.

Dashboards: To make it easier for people to interact with their favorite applications and discover new ones, we’ve introduced the Application Dashboard and Games Dashboard, which you can find in the updated left hand menu.

Facebook Search: Search has moved to the center of the top navigation menu from the right-hand corner. Search has always been an important part of Facebook, enabling you to easily find and connect with the people and things you care about on Facebook.

Visit the guide to the new home page for more detail.

Basically, I'm upset with the new facebook's layout, not because it's ugly or what, it's because of the changes that been made. Especially, the applications menu bar, which was on bottom left previously, has been removed. I cannot access to the applications easily! Furthermore, the notifications were moved to the top right side (previously was bottom right permanently), it's so unnoticeable, since it's not permanently on top.

To overcome the applications issue, I've no choice but to use back the laggy Mozilla Firefox, to customize my own shortcut button for the applications. As for the notifications issue, I've no choice but to maintain the page from top. I just hope that facebook can set back their old layout, whereby the applications menu bar and the notifications were permanently on the bottom, it can make my life easier.

Malacca International Airport

Malacca International Airport, previously known as Batu Berendam Airport, was launched and upgraded with modern facilities. I'm not too sure about the details but here's an article for you to read if you wanna know about it - Make Malacca airport soar.

Uh, I just hope that there will be flights from Malacca to Miri or vice versa, so I don't to travel from Miri to KLIA or LCCT then to Malacca, especially when I'm coming back with my aunt. The airport is kinda near to 3 of my aunts' houses, even my elder cousin's house too (the 1 I'm staying with in Miri right now, he will be shifting to Malacca by this year), I think travel within 10 minutes! Just imagine from Taman Bukit Cheng to Batu Berendam? Melaka, Malacca my hometown!

Malacca's biggest shopping complex is finally opened

Aeon Bandaraya Melaka, Malacca's biggest shopping complex is now finally open to public! I've been waiting for this moment since last December, but due to an incident occurred last 14 December, which was the gas explosion, the shopping complex has no choice but to delay the opening ceremony on 17 December. According to the news, the incident had killed 2 people (1 of them is an engineer) and injured 20 people.

I thought that I can pay a visit during the opening ceremony last December, due of the unwanted incident, I don't have the opportunity to see the opening ceremony, I was at Malacca that time! Oh well, as long it opens before I fly back to Miri, I'm satisfied. Next week or next 2 weeks I shall pay a visit! Wait for me! Melaka, Malacca my hometown!

Blogging is Boring?

Is blogging really that boring for youngsters? I was surfing around The Star and I've found something interesting, for me at least. Spare some time to read 'Blogging becoming a slog' by Martha Irvine from The Star.

Well, what I can conclude is that I strongly agree with that article. More and more youngsters are neglecting their blogs and migrated their time on facebook or so. By comparing facebook and blogging for instant, I dare to admit that I spend more time on facebook, because of the addictive applications? No offence! Yet, blogging and facebook are totally different. From my point of view, blogging individually may be boring, however, it's fun to share your thoughts around the world. I'll always smile whenever I noticed that there's a visitor from other country. So youngsters, say yes to blog for a long term and, ohya, don't be lazy to update your blog frequently. Cheers ;)

Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur

Titiwangsa Lake Park or well known as Taman Tasik Titiwangsa is one of my favourite spots for dating exercising, especially jogging. This recreational park is occupied with all sorts of facilities like jogging track, fitness equipments, children playgrounds, remote control car racing track, horse riding and many more. If you know how to get to General Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Tawakal Hospital, National Heart Institute(IJN) and National Library, then you will know where Taman Tasik Titiwangsa located.

Well, my point is, I never expected that it can be a photo shooting spot too, without demand of course. Here, I wanna share 3 not so good quality pictures, it's the sunrise at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.
